Now having served five years in the role, Dean Daubert will share his perspective on CAFNR and the college’s initiative to support Missouri’s agriculture, food and natural resource economies. Fast-changing environmental, economic, technological and sociological forces, including food needs, climate change, agriculture advancements and health demands for humans, animals and plants will transform our future. These changes will shape our research, student training and community connections. Missouri is fortunate to have strong agriculture, natural resource, financial and healthcare industries as allied partners to provide CAFNR, as part of Missouri’s land-grant university, an opportunity to affect the lives of every citizen by providing unbiased, relevant and accessible education, information and resources.
Dr. Tom Spencer, Vice Chancellor for Research & Economic Development, University of Missouri, “Update on the Research Enterprise at Mizzou: Focus on Precision Agriculture and Health.”
In addition to serving as Vice Chancellor for Research and the Scientific Director of the NextGen Precision Health building at the University of Missouri, Dr. Tom Spencer also serves as Curators’ Distinguished Professor of Animal Sciences in the College of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources. Scientific discovery and research leadership define Dr. Spencer’s career. Elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 2019, Dr. Spencer is an internationally recognized reproductive and developmental biologist.
