Shook, Hardy & Bacon has graciously offered to host the Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City in January, for what has become a traditional legal update for the Council.  This year's session will be held January 17, 2019 at the Shook, Hardy & Bacon offices at 2555 Grand Boulevard in Kansas City.

Over the past year, blockchain has become a buzzword in many business sectors, including agriculture. Scott Strohm, Shook, Hardy & Bacon will provide a primer on blockchain and address general legal issues. Forecasting the use of blockchain in the agriculture sector, Dr. Keith Harris, Kansas State University will share its current and potential uses in the agrifood supply chain, including as it relates to trust and transparency, and Chelsea Good, Livestock Marketing Association will discuss livestock industry programs to meet increasing consumer interest in traceability and sustainability, and how blockchain may impact the livestock industry in the future. Mary Olson, Shook, Hardy & Bacon will close the session with an update on emerging issues in the agriculture and food space.
