Implications of Climate Change
and Pending Legislation
September 24, 2009
The implications of climate change and pending legislation to address this subject are hot topics in many agricultural circles. We will have two experts on-hand for an expanded version of our monthly luncheon on September 24 at the American Royal. Our speakers will include:
· Dr. Ray Massey, agricultural economist, Commercial Agriculture Program, University of Missouri. Dr. Massey has authored several papers on the topic of climate change, including “Agriculture and Greenhouse Gas Emissions” and “Introduction to Greenhouse Gas Markets and Cap-and-Trade.” Click here to view Dr. Massey's presentation.
·
Dave Miller, chief science officer, AgaGate Climate Credits Corporation, and director of Research and Commodity Services Division, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. Dave has been instrumental in developing carbon credit protocols for agriculture and developing the contracts and aggregations services so that producers can participate in carbon programs. Please note this luncheon starts a little earlier than usual, at 11:15 a.m., and may not conclude until 2:00 p.m. This is an expanded format to address one of the top issues before agriculture today.
